Dear Minister Rau,
I the undersigned support GROUNDSWELLsa in;
The promotion of the inner city as the primary focus for development, the protection South Australia's food bowl, and transparent political donations.
We urge you to reconsider proposed housing developments at Seaford Heights and Mt Barker. It is not too late too use a combination of finding alternative land, and or, using better design to for-fill Adelaide's housing needs.

I would strongly urge a review of the Mt. Barker development decisions. A govt. is elected to represent its voters - the voters are clearly telling you, you got this decision wrong and we feel uncomfortable with the processes involved in the decision making! Please have the courage and conviction to review this decision and open your thoughts to views of landholders, environmentalists rather than the wishes of developers whom have $ motives. Mt Barker area does not have the capacity or desire to absorb such high density living nor do we want to see loss of viable agricultural land. This is an opportunity for SA to shine - A dynamic, well planned,infrastructure friendly development on close-by less viable agricultural land is the answer.

all urban developments should take land capability into account. This means that, like land whith high environmental values, land with high agricultural value can be protected. Then, land with lower agricultural (and environmental)value can be assigned for development. This means that the Adelaide Hills / Mt Lofty Ranges and other areas can be protected, whilst lower value land such as near Callington (10 mins from Mt Barker)could be considered for urban development

Learn from Europe and consider building up rather than out, urban sprawl is not the way forward. Not only does it ruin the landscape (and precious vineyards) but it stretches resources.

I'm for sensible development to keep the state growing but causing a wine region to lose significant appeal is harmful on too many fronts!
Carol Bailey, 5251
The people of Mount Barker loudly said "NO" to medium density residential development on prime farm land but were ignored by State Government. 545 brilliant submissions, 5 nights of DPAC hearing and an ERDC Hearing made an absolute farce of 'public consultation'. Check out the submissions at www.planning.sa.gov.au and ASK what happened to democracy!

I grew up in the area and the sprawl is already out of control. The wine industry is SA's future why ruin it ?

Stop the sprawl and see the necessity of protecting the food growing areas of this state! I don't want to eat food grown in China or any other country for that matter...we do it so well here!!
